News and Events: List: Conferences / Meetup in 2014.
I’m researching conferences to attend the rest of the year and thought you guys would enjoy what I found. There’s not really an official list anywhere so I think I’ll write a post every half year. Please comment or message me if you know of any conferences / meetups I didn’t write about.
Here’s an article I did on how to network like a pro at conferences.
Want to save money at conferences?
If you’re not making any money then I don’t think it’s a good idea to spend $2k on full access passes and another $1k on expensive hotels.
My advice is to save your money and invest it in other parts of your businesses.
a) Get the cheapest pass. Another tip is to buy the passes a few months EARLY because some conferences have early bird discounts.
b) Some of the hotels in places like London or NYC can be expensive so I recommend seeing what Airbnb has to offer. You can save significant money if you stay in a private room of an apartment. If you’re a nobody newbie, no one cares where you’re staying at a conference.
Also see if there’s anyone you can room with. I posted on WickedFire in 2008 for someone to split the hotel cost with and ended up rooming with Mr. Ian Fernando.

What: Ads4Dough Meetup
City: San Diego, USA

Every year Jason Akatiff hosts a meet up for affiliates in San Diego. I attended and spoke at once a few years ago and it’s awesome. He brings in relevant speakers and there’s always an awesome after-party at night.
It’s free and open to anyone (even if you don’t work with A4D). I won’t be attending since I’ll still be in Asia, but I highly encourage you to go.

What: World Domination Summit
City: Portland, Oregon
Date: July 11th, 2014 – July 14th 2014
It’s not as relevant to affiliate marketers, but it looks like an awesome event. It’s hard to explain what it is so you should go to the website for more information.
I’m heading there for a few days to hang out with AsianEfficiency crew and I want to network with more non – affiliate people. (I still love you guys, just wanna diversify myself)
Anyone coming? If there’s enough interest I can put together a mini-meetup for my readers.

This is interesting. ASE Happens and Leadscon follows immediately after. I predict there will be tons of affiliate zombies at Leadscon.

Adsimilis had their meetup last year in Ibiza and now they’re going to Dubai. They keep raising the bar for exotic places so my predictions for future Adsimilis meetups: Cuba, North Korea, & Antartica

I’m a maybe on this. Ad:tech’s definitely great to find newer traffic sources. There are more “suits” at ad:techs than affiliate summits so you should definitely step your dress code up a notch.
